I finally got my T410 (hooray!) and I picked up the Advanced Mini Dock Plus with it so that I can do dual external monitors. Now I need to figure out which monitors and I'm not sure if I should go with 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio.

The two I'm looking at are the ViewSonic VA2232wm and the Samsung 2233SW. Either way I go, I figure that while docked I'm going to switch to some higher resolution to take advantage of the screen size. I'm guessing that moving between resolutions may shift my desktop icons and gadgets around, but that's a small price to pay for the move to larger dual screens.

Is anybody else doing dual externals with their ThinkPad? What monitor are you using? Have you run into any problems or gotchas?

    Feedback appreciated!

i have two external connected. an eizo778 and a nec 2070nx, i have no problems at all. it works like it should. only minor is that it seems that 2 monitors is the maximum, although the docking stations would allow more monitors. i don't use widescreen monitors, because i can't work with them all day. but that's just a personal matter :)

get ultramon as software, u won't need more usually. icons move back to their spots on the desktop, if u don't move them while u are off the docking station.

if u are highly sensitive, i would recommend to choose an ips or pva panel. i don't have problems with tn panels, but there are some people, who can't look at a tn panel for hours.

I don't much care for Samsung or Viewsonic monitors. Dell tends to make decent monitors for the price. I just ordered one of these for one of my users today. Has vga, dvi with HDCP and displayport connections, plus a 4 port usb hub.

Use two identical monitors would be better as there will be no color/brightness difference and thus easy on your eyes. You can also buy Lenovo monitors which would match the style of your T410 very well!

During the 20% off sale in the Lenovo Outlet I bought a 24" LED monitor, model L2440x. I'm using it right now and I couldn't go back to either one of my laptop's monitors. Yes, there are better choices out there, but I like the LED backlight, mercury-free construction, and the price I got it for so I can't complain.

IPS or PVA panels are worth the premium, if you can afford them

one big monitor is better than two small ones.

For you, maybe. For me, I like a couple of separate monitors. It seems to help me keep things more organized in my head.

If you miss that fat black bar in the middle you can always add it with a sharpie :p
