is there a possibility to close the notebook lid, while connected to an external monitor? Or is that only possible with the ultrabase?

    thanks

you can close the internal LCD whilst using the external LCD. Just go into your Power Options in Control panel, in which there is an option for you to keep your laptop from sleeping (Choose what closing the lid does).

Is it possible to have the X220t mini display port outputting to HDMI AND it's VGA outputting to a 2nd display at the same time?

    Essentially 3 displays, extended desktop?

I believe it's a full displayport, and it can output to only 2 monitors at a time. However you can disable the laptop monitor in the intel control center.

not with the intel GPU no. You would need to get a usb2dvi or usb2vga adapter, or an eGPU for that.
