typically far cheaper to buy an enclose and a HD seperately. 500GB is large though, won't find that in a laptop drive, have to get 3.5 inch.

You actually need 500GB? You could also get a laptop drive in a case if you need more portability, but you'd be limited to 160GB of storage.

I have a Buffalo lanstation at the office this is 400 gig and has a network connection built in so anyone on the network can access.

They also have external USB hard drives available. Here's a link for you...

I just recently purchased a hard drive enclosure from www.pcconnection.com made by Addonics. I just slipped a 2.5" hard drive in and plugged it into my USB ports and voila, I've got an extra 100 gig of disk space. It comes with an AC adapater as well, but the power from the USB port is enough to make it work.

The beauty of the Addonics is that it is just slightly bigger than the hard drive itself. Just do a search for Addonics on the PC Connection website. I think they also make 3.5" hard drive enclosures, so if you want a bigger drive, you can go this route.
