I want a 14" T61 but I'm not happy about its graphic card. Can I buy an external graphic card for the T61, or is there a dock for the T61 that will accept graphic cards?

Asus had/has one, but I haven't heard any more news on its development.

It's not really something that's mainstream these days tho.

There's the advanced dock for the T61 that has a PCI-Express slot, but I don't know if that slot is x1 or x16 and am not sure which video cards it supports, if any. At any rate, you'd have to connect an external monitor to it to use the card.

If the Asus XG ever gets released, it's supposed to be cheaper.
Also if you don't mind working with an external monitor the IBM Advanced Dock will except external video cards, which should give you performance equivalent to a 7600GT or so.

heres the deal with the advanced docking station and the t61. I did a lot of research on it before I bought my 14 inch T61 because I wanted to use 3 external monitors. The pci slot in the advanced docking station is x1. If you will be using xp then you can just buy a card and both will work. If you are going to use vista, it only allows for the use of one driver. Therfroe you would have to find a x1 card that uses the same driver as the quadro 140. Of course if you got it to work you would have to use an external monitor.

As long as you are only using one monitor at a time (i.e. only the external monitor, or only the notebook's lcd) it will work fine in Vista. You can use any low profile x1 card in it. That solution won't work for multiple monitors, but as the OP didn't require that, it shouldn't be a problem.
