    Hi all,

I just got a T60 8744. I also have two dell 2407WFP (24inch monitors, one at work and one at home). When I connect either monitor to the computer I get jittering/flickering lines on the display. Has one else had this problem? I installed the most recent device driver for the x1400. Called tech support and they said others were having this problem too, but I haven't seen any posts on the forums :/.

    Thanks,
    Mike

What do you mean 'jittering/flickering' Is it like individual pixels display 'noise' ie turn full red/green/blue or is it more like the entire screen that flickers/looses sync?

How is your T60 hooked up to the external monitor, via DVI or via VGA output?

it's more like lines shift around not individual pixels, probably 2 to 3 inches in length. You can see it very visibly when you click drag windows around.

Have you tried cleaning the VGA connectors and see if that solves the problem?

Or maybe some of the pins are making a bad connection.

So I just played around and found out that if I put the monitor in a rotated mode the flickering goes away. It's in 90 degree ccw mode. Super weird. Should I just get a DVI converter?

Sounds like a loose pin, or a bad connection, either within the cable connector, or within the laptop VGA connector, or within the monitor VGA connector (although less likely).

If I understand correctly, the thinkpad advanced mini dock (purchased separately) provides a DVI out.

Stopman, have you checked if the resolution in your display properties equals the one of that screen? Have you tried reducing it?

I have the same issue, I think (though mine stays on the screen regardless of orientation). External out using VGA and my Acer AL2216W shows flickering especially when there's movement on the screen (animation/video running).

Edit: I originally thought it was the VGA out's fault. Turns out this only happens when I'm plugged into the AC. When I'm running off the battery there's no flicker. This happens no matter which wall outlet I use or surge protector.

Edit: Changing power adapters with my room mate's didn't help either. Seems it's the power unit inside the laptop?

Does anyone know how long the RMA turn around is? I'm running solely off the laptop, so once I get it shipped I'll be without a computer for a while :'(
