    Hi all,

Almost 3 years ago I bought a T400 CTO from the Lenovo site with 3 years of basic warranty. Now When those 3 years almost have passed, how can I buy another 2 years of warranty?

    Thanks,
    Marat.

I'm pretty sure you can extend your system warranty online, visit this site and enter the relevant details. Alternatively you can call up Lenovo and ask for a warranty extension.

Yes, your warranty can be upgraded to a maximum of five years, though accidental is limited to four years.

T400's and parts for them are cheap these days. An extended warranty wouldn't make sense on one.

Please share the cost of the extension.. when I'd called to extend the waranty of for my X200, the quote was enough to purchase a used one off CL.

EDIT: Agree with what vinuneuro said. (we posted at nearly the same time)

If you don't feel like fixing it yourself, then the extended warranty may make more sense. Also you get "unlimited" repairs under manufacturer warranty as long as it isn't CID (customer induced damage) or you have the TPP.

Though I'm not sure if Lenovo would replace the unit if parts are severely back-ordered like what Dell will do.

At this point, the price of a T400 (even a well-specced one) is so depreciated that it wouldn't make sense to take out an extended warranty on it. If your T400 dies, you could repair it at minimal cost or even replace it entirely with, say, another T400 for under $300. If the warranty extension is anything above $50 (as I'm sure it is), I would strongly recommend against it.
