I recently ordered a Lenovo Thinkpad T400 laptop from the USA Lenovo site. I had it shipped to Iceland where I live. I was sure I ordered the laptop with the Express Card Slot & 7-1 Media Card Reader. However, it seems to be missing.

Isn't this just the express card slot? Unfortunately, I can't really make a big deal about this since then I would have to reship the laptop to USA and that would cost me a lot of money. Besides, this upgrade only cost $10 so I'm not losing a lot of money on this. Can't I just buy an express card which has a media card reader?

this is the pcmcia and expresscard slot setup, you should chase it up with Lenovo, regarding this order. They may recuperate some of the cost towards the external card reader. Yes you can get either the PCMCIA or ExpressCard slot card reader. But it is better that you should inform Lenovo regarding this order mistake, the last thing people want is to ship for parts that they didn't order. This will also help notify Lenovo that a supply chain problem is in existence.

Everyone makes mistakes, but one has to learn from these, so that they don't occur.

I went through a lot of hassle ordering this laptop. I now know what went wrong. They had to convert my original order to a quote since I was paying with a wire transfer. After I wired the money I got an email with a new quote but a different total amount. Then shortly after I got another new quote email with another different total amount. When I asked them about this they had to make a new quote since it seemed the money I transferred wasn't enough (which is strange since I wired exactly the amount they told me to wire). Anyways, they said they had to make a new quote to give me the discount so I wouldn't have to wire the remainder of the money and delay my order even more. This had to be done to get the finance department to approve the quote and let it through. This is the answer I got from them:

"It turned out that the wire amount you sent for your original order was not enough to cover the total cost of the machine. In order to amend the problem a new quote had to be created at a lower price to get approval from finance to process the order. As you have noticed, the new quote has been converted and approved by finance. So in essence we have duplicated your order at a lower price and have started to build your machine. Otherwise your first order would have been sitting in limbo, waiting for the remaining amount to be wired."

Now when I browse through those quote emails I can see the that in the original quote the 7-1 card reader is included and in one of the quote email I received after the wire transfer. However, the last quote email I received didn't have the 7-1 card reader listed. They must have made a mistake when they were duplicating the quotes.

This is all a bit frustrating...

Seems a bit frustrating, but still even that is the case, there is something wrong with the finance and ordering systems. I have had troubles before too, and i had call up a couple of times.
