What is your network setup? Do you go through a wireless router? I had the same problem and the solution was that I had MAC address filtering enabled on the router and forgot to re-add my notebooks wired Ethernet card as an allowable device.

Well i have a Roadrunner(TimeWarner) wireless modem. I have a Desktop and PS3 hooked up ethernet style with no problems connecting. I'm in DHCP right now, i'll try and find what you're talking about.

Don't see anything that could be blocking the connection.

Look in your network connections and make sure both network devices are in there, both wired and wireless, they both should be enabled.

You might want to go check the propriety of your IPv4 connection and set it to "Automatically obtain blablabla"...

My network stopped working yesthurday because the Ethernet automatically set himself to a prefixed IP and DNS for whatsoever reason...

Do you get any specific error? You are connecting via wired LAN correct?

START --> NETWORK PROPRIETIES --> MANAGE NETWORK CONNECTIONS --> LOCAL AREA NETWORK PROPRIETIES --> INTERNET PROTOCOL VERSION 4 PROPRIETIES --> OBTAIN AUTOMATICALLY ..... BOTH of them...

    Take a look at it!

Yes, wired LAN. it's not really giving me an "error" just a problem and a few options for diagnostics.. none of the repair options work

It fails at identifying part.(Public Network) and it shows up as an unidentified network. No IP address

That means its not finding DNS server. Try specifying DNS server manually.
