General question: has Lenovo ever shipped your laptop before the estimated ship date? Just curious!

    Thanks,

    Mika

Yes, companies will often ship your computer before the Estimated Date. This is why it is "Estimated". ;) :p

Don't expect it by mother's day. It really depends on your order but it is hardly definitive with lenovo.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was just trying to gauge how often orders are shipped before the estimated time. It's annoying because my order is estimated to ship on a Thursday (2 day shipping) so I will have to wait till Monday! I hope they send it out just a day earlier so I can enjoy it over the weekend!

I just received my T400, it was estimated 11May ship date, est. 17 business days. It shipped in 2 days! I was worried it meant they messed up my order, but they didn't and I couldn't be happier. So yes, Lenovo has shipped before the expected date. Good luck!

I am going to wait until Friday and if my computer is not shipped I will have to cancel my order. I can see waiting for a customized laptop but why wait more than two weeks for a standard ideapad? I can order something off of amazon and have it in three days. I do not see my mother very often and was hoping to give the laptop to her this weekend.

Amazon is not comparable but ok...

Just beware that a few weeks into the order process cancellation can be problematic since word has to get to the production phase guys. There have been numerous cases where people cancel and the laptop ships or was shipped. So hold off if you're ordering another one just to be sure (unless you have the credit and the hassle of returning it is not a big deal to you).

i ordered my ideapad y450 on 4/26... on the lenovo website it said estimated shipping in 11 business days... so once i made the order it said it will ship by 5/11. a few days ago i checked the lenovo website again but now it says estimated shipping in 8 business days... so i went to check my order status but it still said it will ship by 5/11... does anyone think there will is a possibility that the laptop will ship 3 business days earlier??

Just had my X301 delivery date extended it was 9 business day, but ship has been extended another 9 business days until 5/20. Oh well... hopefully it is just a couple of more -- and the extra 9 days is just the MRP doing it automatic thing.

Lenovo is conservative in their estimates. A large percentage ship out before the estimated ship date. You'll only likely wait if there's a supply issue on one or more parts.

I placed my order on April 25 and the estimated ship date was May 7, however it was shipped from Shanghai on May 5, but is now sitting in Alaska since May 7.

I paid $10 extra for UPS two-day (would pay more if I could), but on the UPS tracking site it says EXPEDITED, which means if departing location is in Asia it can take up to 5 business days (that's what the UPS site says). I really need this laptop to arrive on Monday May 11, because my brother is leaving on Tuesday and he will bring the laptop to me in China. Yes I know ironic huh?. Anyone know if it will go anywhere during the weekend? I wish they could ship it to me in China, hehe; I asked but they said no :( . Why OH why does Lenovo not pay for the worldwide 1-3 business day shipping?! Cheapskates!.. Two-day does not really mean two days to them now does it.

You know that's a good question, but buying in mainland China for a similarly equipped Thinkpad costs about US$1000 more. In Hong Kong it's relatively cheaper but still about $300 more than in the US. Not to mention the fact there is no CTO here. :/ I really don't quite understand the economics involved here. BTW my laptop is going to Texas.

I got a great deal, so no biggie. They did ship my travel charger -- 2nd day from HKG on the 8th so I expect that it will take the extra 9 days minimum for the X301.

Looks like the 9 day extension turned to be 1 day -- shipped today 5/11.
Hopefully it comes on Friday before a trip -- otherwise my wife will have a new X301 :D

Update: (just for the record) My laptop arrived on May 12. It was already in the same city as the final destination on May 11, but not delivered yet. The shipping time actually took 3 days if start counting from the time it was in Alaska on May 7, and you don't count the weekends. Now I already have another relative lined up to bring the laptop to me about 4 days later than if my brother brought it to me. Lenovo should call it UPS 3-day! :realmad:
