My T40 died yesterday. I was already planning on ordering a T61 this week. I just ordered a 15.4" widescreen with a T7800. The estimated ship date is 10/30!

How accurate are these? Generally is the time long? Shorter? I can not imagine being without a laptop for 3 weeks. Any insight is appreciated.

Generally they tend to be conservative, but that's no guarantee.

Just as a follow up. Does anybody know where these ship from? I'd like to determine the shipping time to my location (you can do this on UPS's website).

I am trying to justify upgrading to 2nd Day air for $50... seems steep.

Around when the t61 started shipping and everyone was complaining about delays. I ordered my t61 with wxga+ (heard these were backordered) My computer came in two weeks, it was estimated to be four weeks. So it does seem pretty conservative, though i've only bought one.... check out the other threads about ship date

I ordered a T61p on 10/3/07, and it arrived 10/9/07 (well, that's the first day UPS tried to deliver, but I wasn't home to sign for it. I actually didn't have the computer in my hands until 10/12/07, but that was due to UPS/me not being home during regular working hours).

According to online tracking, the computer originated in Hong Kong, stopped in South Korea, stopped again in Alaska, and arrived in Virginia before being trucked on land to my location in Maryland.

Agreed, seems conservative, at least currently.

I ordered my T61 Friday 10/13 and it is now in Ontario, CA waiting on customs. It'll probably be on my doorstep tomorrow, 10/16. The original arrival date was scheduled for 10/25. :)

What did you order (specs)? I order a custom T61 on 10/7 and I am still waiting with an ESD of 10/25.

Does anybody know how long it took once it was shipped for them to receive it?

I am trying to determine if 2nd day air is worth $50.

4 Days for me, shipped from China over the weekend and I received on Thursday.. It was a looong wait :) The month plus wait for it to ship was bad enough.

They ship from china. Don't pay 2nd day air, Lenovo usually upgrades packages to Express shipping and that, for me, took 4 days from China to PPhiladelphia.

FWIW, my X61t upgrade to two day was only $21, so it probably depends on what model you purchase. I didn't want the extra delay this time, I have some trips coming up that I'd like the little machine for.
