Est. Ship Date, is this right?

I ordered a Thinkpad T61 last night (1/29) and when I was placing the order the website said that T61 model ships in 1-2 weeks, but now when I check my order status it says the estimated ship date is 2/22.

ie: the estimated ship date is 25 days after i placed my order when the website estimated 7-14. Will the estimated date move up? is there a reason it's so far away? I know penryn just came out, is this part of the reason?

EDIT: i just read others have similar shipping dates, so i guess it's just lenovo right now

 

Yeah, they usually over inflate the ship dates. But on the real side, China is being hit with a lot of weather problems *snow* and that definitely pushed back a lot of the normal operations.

 

My ship date during the holiday season was 1 month. It was shipped in a few days instead. This happened to many people, so it might be the same for you, or it will really become the ship date. Either way, they're better off giving you a longer ship date than a sooner one and having to push it back.

 

I ordered my T61p on Friday 1/25 and I received it this morning, 1/30.

 

Thats great...I hope the pad works well for you. BTW, I ordered mine on Friday from the outlet. It converted Monday and all credit card verification went through today... So I await my shipment!

I was quite surprised that it shipped so quickly. I was not looking forward to a 2-3 week wait!

I love my T61p! I am in the IT field. I have worked on everything from a Palm III to 8-way HP servers. I have been repairing Thinkpads since the 600E. I have worked on the 600E, 600x, A20, A22, A30, A31, R50, R51, R60, R61(my current work laptop), T20, T21, T22, X41, and X61. This is the first time I have personally owned one!

 

From order date to arrival date, it took 36 days to get m y T61...

So 25 days its good

In my case, I ordered mine on Jan. 15, shipped on Jan 30th, arrived today, Feb 1st. According to the initial confirmation screen I saw when I ordered the ThinkPad, the estimated ship date was 1/30.

 

Hummm I ordered mine 01/17 from Lenovo Canada and was just told today It would arrive 02/29 or 03/03!!!!

 

I think Lenovo Canada is kicking the can around, seems like they are still dealing with internal issues.

 

I had ordered on 1/30. They estimated the ship date 2/25/08. I got an email this morning that it had been shipped! Yay!

 

Hmm- does it chnge the time if one orders on the internet vs. on the phone? (in the US)

 

I would suggest to make an order online, and then call to confirm it. Sometimes the rep will tell you ways to save money too.

 

i ordered mine expecting to receive within 2-3 weeks but because of weather problems i got it after a month.. however, the machine is PERFECT, well worth the wait

 

I ordered mine on 1/31/2008...CSR says it will be shipped on week of 2nd March.....my order status says 2/26/08

very strange indeed. I hope my T61 shows up earlier....but doesnt' look like it. It seems that the info on systems delivery are ramdomly changing.

i ordered mine the 1st, in the afternoon. and right now, during halftime for the superbowl, just 2 days later, it shipped!

 

they shipped it UPS Express, is that 1 day shipping!?

 

I just got an e-mail notifying me that my r61 w/t9300 has shipped. I should have it in a couple days. I also ordered mine on Jan. 30th.

 

Check the tracking information. I ordered mine on 2/1, aware that Lenovo is experiencing some shipping delays. I ordered with "2 Business Days" shipping, which curiously cost no more than "UPS Ground".

Good news: it shipped on 2/3, much faster than the forecasted 2/20.

"Bad" news: the order page has mysteriously switched to "UPS Ground". Lenovo's CS rep insists that this is correct and was not interested at all in the emails I have from Lenovo stating 2-day shipping. UPS says it'll arrive here on 2/12, which is 7-8 business days.

I didn't pay extra for shipping, and (if UPS is correct) I'll get it sooner than anticipated thanks to the estimated ship date, so no reason to get bent out of shape over it. But if you're expecting 2-day shipping, make sure you check it first.

Edit: it's possible they give a far-out ship date (mine was over two weeks out, but shipped very quickly), and then choose the ship method (fast vs slow) depending how long it takes to get out the door (slow vs fast, respectively). We'll see what Lenovo says.

 

sounds like everyone's is shipping earlier than the listed date

mine "shipped" on 2/1 after i ordered it 1/29, and then for some reason was "rescheduled" and went out on 2/2 instead.

 

I ordered my T61 on 1/30/08. Original estimated ship date was 2/25/08. I received an email saying it shipped on 2/2/08. UPS tracking shows it left Hong Kong 2/4/08 at 11:37PM. Just waiting for the brown truck to come by, maybe tomorrow. ;^)

 

ours may have been on the same plane then, lol. hopefully i get it tomorrow too.

 

Don't forget that it has to come through customs. Neither Lenovo nor UPS has any control over how long that takes.

Uh oh!! I did think of the customs issue either. Maybe we will get lucky and things will be quickly.

 

Hopefully it won't take too long. Appears mines at customs right now.

it was in kentucky at 9pm for customs and now it is in alaska at 6pm

I am pretty sure the message about the "The package being help by brokerage for blah blah" is a general message from a hub in Kentucky as the package passes through customs in Alaska. The time differences between the areas is a bit confusing through.

Our boxes more than likely on a plane from Alaska to some hub maybe Kentucky.

My package says it was signed by ding at 9:37 am but I was awake studying for an exam at 9:37 and no one knocked on my door. There is no package outside my door. There is no package at the University office where packages go.

What do I do????!?!?!

 

cry... this has happened to other people before too. best you can do is contact UPS immediately. do you know who 'ding' is?

 

looks positive now....who knows tomorrow the status may say AIRLINE OFF-LOADED PACKAGES in china ....UPS shipping status is confusing...

UPS driver just dropped off mine!!

 

Mine too. Ordered 1/30, delivered 2/5. UPS delivered my R61 about 5minutes after Fedex delivered my 4GB of ram and 320GB hdd.

Mine's gone from China to Kentucky to Alaska. Here's to hoping Minnesota will make an appearance on the tracker soon.

 

i have to assume that it will go hong kong to alaska to kentucky to somewhere close to you

i think the time zone thing is screwing tracking up.
mine went from hong kong, alaska, to kentucky, to alsaka, to kentucky, to alaska, to buffalo, to me

and in some of them it did it in negative 3 hours, lol

 

do they send you a tracking # when the status goes to shipped?

 

the tracking no will appear after sometime in the status page.

 

Ya, they all go through Alaska first, both UPS and FEDEX have major hubs in Anchorage, AK.
