    Hello all,

One idea I had for my X61 was to somehow engrave my name, and phone number in the lid of my laptop. I'd like this to be done neatly, any suggestions for how I could go about this? Could a commercial engraving service do this? And, is there any chance this could void my warranty?

    Thanks!

I'm not sure about where to get the engeraving done, but wouldn't it be better to engrave the bottom side of the laptop rather than the top side?

Police stations will usually do it for you on the bottom.

I dunno about warranty (call Lenovo), but it definitely hurt the resale value

Eh, I'm not too concerned about resale value, as I'll probably be using this thing until the day it dies.

Any other suggestions as to how to go about this? None of my area police departments offer this.

I thought lenovo offered some kinda option like this. Some kinda tag that identifies the owner. I think it might be inside the case tho. I dont know.

Only problem I can see with this is, if I have to make a warranty claim, and they would simply give me a functionally equivalent machine, they're not going to want mine in a case with my name etched in the top.

Anyway, I'll call them, see what they have to say about this.
