I just bought a new X60 with Core2duo T7200. This processor has virtualization technology feature. Does anyone know how to enable virtualization technology in the BIOS? I can't seem to find the setting for enabling it. And i'm already running the latest BIOS 2.05. I hope I don't have to wait for the next BIOS update for it...

I think you mean you have a "core duo" NOT a "core2duo". From my understanding that chip is not available in x60 yet. That being said I am not sure that core duo has virtualization tech. If I am wrong please tell us how you got that chip.

Cure2Duo is available for X60 models. That's one of the reasons I bought this new X60 because of Cure2Duo is a 64-bit CPU and supports Virtualization Technology to run 64-bit guest VM. I used to have the X60s which has a slower processor.

oooppsss. Sorry bout that you are right and I am wrong. I just ordered one (tablet) to be shipped sometime in January but now I am actually thinking about copying you. The sales rep and forums I looked at said that chip wouldnt be available sometime after feb. Why did you upgrade? Was the old one that much slower. Sorry again for presuming you were misinformed when infact I was.

Any reasons for needing the virtualization enabled? I use VMware on my T60 all the time with no need for the VT to be enabled.

I found this on ThinkWiki: "Some recent ThinkPad models ship with Intel CPUs that implement the Intel VT extensions for hardware-supported virtualization, but the capability is disabled by the BIOS. There is no known solution."

I need to enable VT because VMWare won't allow me to run 64-bit guest VM without VT enabled in BIOS. My job requires to do lots of testing with different OS'es.

I couldn't imagine the X60 having a much different BIOS layout.
This is the path to the setting in the T60's
Config > CPU > Intel Bla Bla enable/disable. That is also the same location to turn off the multicore setup for older operating systems like windows 2k.
