Email Update Received on T61/T60 Orders and Freebies!!!

Lenovo finally sent out an email about the problems, just received it and they are going to give us the option of freebies as well:

Systems are going to try to all be built by 6/26

People affected by the earlier delays are offered one of the following free

6 Cell Battery for extended run time P/N 41U3198 - T61 / R61
AC Adapter P/N 40Y7659
Premium carrying case P/N 73P3597

Anyone affected should be getting the email in a while I assume.

 

Not that I'm ungrateful, but the "premium" carrying case isn't the premium carrying case on the website. But I do like free stuff.

True, battery is worth the most if you want to go by price (probably around $140 as thats what the T60 one goes for, couldn't find the T61 one on the site yet)

Charger is $59 and bag is $59


Also I had canceled my order affected and now have a later order (ordered 6/8) so I dunno if they will honor it for me or not. (canceled to change config and get a different discount)

 

I don't think the battery thats in the email is compatible since its for the T60 and I remembered reading this in pcmag.com under con.

What was problematic? Be honest - the only annoying thing was the August ship date - and you know thats a glitch.

I ordered mine on 5/28 and it better ship within a week. If it doesn't (that'll be the end of the '2-3 weeks' I'm supposed to expect)... I'll get a useless 6-cell battery or whatever.

Honestly, all the fear-mongering and Lenovo bashing can probably be attributed to like 4 people with legitimate complaints, and a bunch of bored buyers (like me) looking for someone to harass.

 

Did everyone receive this email yet? Not me.

 

I would think they will ship the proper one though depending on what is in your order (T61 or T60) since the email was for people with either one.

 

I sent my request to [email protected], and I got an error message saying the email address doesn't exist.

 

The email came from [email protected], do you think they made another mistake?

 

Possibly, but they also said do not submit the request till AFTER you receive your computer

My sister also got the email. However, when she checked her order online (the invoice thing), Lenovo changed her purchase price from ~$1100 to ~$1400. I'm shocked just how much Lenovo has completely blown the R and T 61's launch.

Do you still have the print out of what you ordered? I heard a few have this problem and lenovo was just fine with adjusting the price to the proper one.

 

Yes, I have the original invoice and one from about a week ago for about $75 less than her first one I saving to do a price match with (depending on what sales popped up around the 4th of July).

I got my laptop yesterday and did not have much for delays but got the email today hopefully they will still send. I ordered on 5/22 and recieved 6/11

 

i ordered 2 computers in one order, i better get 2 freebies. the freebies feel lame, especially the "premium" case and ac adapter. they should have done extended warranty or something. i mean it doesn't cost them anything upfront to give extended warranty and i think that would worth more to me than a case or ac adapter, and on par with the battery.

 

Rawrg. My order was placed on 5/24 and was delayed. I'm thinking I'll get the email, though I might fire one off to the TWO email addresses tomorrow if I don't get it by then.

 

I wonder how long these free stuff ordered would take to get to us....

 

bummer they only list the T61 6 cell battery, I wouldn't mind a 6 cell for the T60p I ordered. Still hoping it ships on the 15th

 

Seems most get accessories pretty quickly, but what about that new T61 battery...I sense delays

HAHA they updated my order from $1200 to $1640.
Try charge me more than I agreed, I am going to file a complaint to my CC company.

 

My order was updated as well, with me getting the missing parts and even an invoice email usually sent for new orders (lol), but my price stayed the same. I still haven't received the freebie email yet.

 

anyone else get an updated invoice where the expected ship date is still set for AUGUST? Mine changed from August 28th to August 17th... is anyone else having this problem? I am so displeased with Lenovo. All I can say is, my T61 better have been hand crafted by a notebook GOD (GODDESS would be fine as well) to make up for this blunder (Ordered 5/12/07 and I still have no idea when my order is going to arrive).

No deal. I'd take the battery. Again, a dock would be nicer, if not a CPU/HD/RAM/OS/Warranty upgrade.

 

man, no email about freebies for me. My order wasn't updated either, everything is still the same, no email, estimated ship of 6/28

 

My order was updated yesterday too. Price still the same, but the shipping date is only 11 days closer on the 8/17. Ridiculous.
I didn't get the freebies email. I'd only go for the battery though. It's the most expensive part, and I also got the 4 cell one, so I would have options.
The leather case looks very ugly.

 

jesus. at least you guys are getting semi-better ship dates. i ordered 5/30 and i'm still looking at a 9/03 ship date, and i haven't received the freebie email. this is bull.

 

Just call them and tell them what happened, they will change the price back no problem...

Dont look at the ship date...a lot of the people already getting theirs shipped had ship dates in August and yet got theres before any of us...

 

yeah, but the fact that it hasn't even been updated to a june ship date makes me wonder if they've even passed over my order.

 

Hopefully you didnt order on May 24th like me! Apparently I am on the "bubble." So orders placed before 5/24 are eligible for the freebies and will ship no later than 6/26 and almost certainly earlier. Since I ordered on 5/24, CS said that the "worst" news he could give me was that mine ships on 6/26. Only if it ships after 6/26 will I be eligible for the freebie. Hope this helps.

How do you know that it's for orders placed before 5/24? The freebie email states that the problem is for orders between 5/9 and 5/26, so I assume they would send it to all the delayed orders from that time frame.

 

Yea I've read what the email says and so I thought I would be getting freebies too. This was from the horses mouth at the CS with whom I just got off the phone with. This would explain why those that ordered 5/24 and later have yet to receive this freebie email (me included).

Obviously we get different answers everytime we call them but this was my experience this morning. I called b/c I read on lenovoblogs that they have a list of order numbers for those that will ship the soonest or something like that.

 

So there is still hope. I too ordered on the 24th.
We should definitely get the freebies though. We're getting the same kind of problems and bull**** as the people who ordered on the 23rd or the 25th!

 

Very true ... I called to check on my order status (order placed 5/25) and after a 45 minute wait was told that 6/26 is the ship date. The rep said 4,000 orders were impacted by the bezel probelm and had to be rekeyed.

Furthermore, he indicated that they were not updating the order status pages for those orders so like mine they are stuck on 8/29 or whatever date the system generated. This may also explain why some of us (self included) did NOT get the freebie communication. I have received ZERO email communication from Lenovo thus far. Did anyone else get the freebie offer without getting updated ship dates and delay e-mails from Lenovo?

 

i did infact get the 8/30, ordered 5/10 although i price/cpu modified it i was bumped down to 6/18.

i hope im that 6 or 30 percent range of getting mines built 13th.

My order was updated but I didn't get the freebie email. I ordered 5/24 and my ESD is now 6/29. Anyone else's order status now blue? And yes, the parts were added.

what system did you buy? T61, T60 or R61?

 

I received the email for the freebies 2 days ago. I ordered my laptop on 5/4 and after 6-8 calls and probably 10 hours on hold for those calls, my laptop finally shipped from the factory( China) on 6/12. However, it took 2 days 6/14 before it actually made it out of China. So it looks like it will actually get here about 6/19 (my orginal ship date was supposed to be 5/28.

 

swood ... when did Lenovo charge your credit card? Was it on the ship date itself (6/12 in your case)?

 

I ordered a T60 with mobile broadband with practically everything. Funny too cause original ship date was 6/15 then I when I emailed asking when my card would be charged I was told 6/18 shipping. But then like a day later it was changed to 6/08 ship date and I recieved it on the 6/11. Guess I got lucky. Maybe by emailing them it flagged my order even though I was not impacted.

Oh and my card was charged on the final ship date.

 

has the 6 cell battery been confirmed to work on the T61? or is it still the screw up T60 battery?

 

Lenovo should give additional 10% discount to those whose orders got affected

 

They charged my credit card on the ship date.

Further info: according to the UPS tracking it left China yesterday morning and as of 4PM today it hasn't been scanned in the US yet......I know it's a long flight but that is a bit excessive.
