    Hi there. My complaints regarding Lenovo screens may hopefully be a thing of the past with all new models coming out. A few queries:

    1. Does the e220s only come with the glass glossy screen or will a MATTE screen be offered. I like the size factor;

    2. Edge 11 does eist with a matte screen and has more power than a netbook so looks good. The resolution of a standard netbook (1024 x 600) is ideal on my eyes. Will the 1366 x 768 on the 11 inch be MUCH smaller fonts ? I kind of like the look of this one. It is said it remains cool and QUIET. Marketing or truth ? I am so used to whisper quiet netbook use I never want a fan that does not quit anymore ... (ie X100e - and fry eggs on it).

    Thanks

    1. The e220s probably would only come with a glossy screen, since it is a border-less screen design.

    2. The font on the edge would be smaller.

    1.- Yep, most likely only glossy screen, with glass overlay.

    2.- 1366x768 on an 11.6" screen is 135 DPI. 1024x600 on a 10.1" screen is 117.5 DPI. Yeah, things will be significantly smaller on the 11.6" display, but you could always scale up font sizes in W7.

    Would the font size (dpi) in the new X220 be similar to my netbook (1024 x 600) ? a bit smaller I can do but not MUCH smaller. And when you adapt font size in W7 do web pages go all funny and warpy ?

    DPI for the X220's 1366x768 12.5" screen is about 125, so text will be smaller on its screen than on a 10.6" 1024x600 netbook. Since this area is so subjective, I'd advise you to look at laptops in a store and use this DPI calculator and the known screen size + resolution to find what you're comfortable with.

    Regarding font scaling, web pages display properly, to the best of my knowledge. I haven't used font scaling all that much, since standard DPI works just fine for me on my X120e and T500.

    Previous Edge models have come in Matte or Glossy.

    Unclear on the new e220s or even e420s for that matter. Edge 14" had a matte screen option in the past so its possible the e420s will get a matte or glossy choice as well. I don't know anything about the e220s or its previous equivalent. Sorry.

    The reason why I doubt that the e220s and e420s will have matte finish is because the top layer seem to be made out of glass; Lenovo call it infinity screen.

    No, Apple Macbook pros do this too and have Matte and Glossy options on some models.

    Shouldn't impact this. The e420s and e220s is not out officially. It came out in very limited form. Was offered on the website for a little bit then removed.

    After it is fully introduced we will see what options it comes with.

    The E420s I am hoping will have the Matte vs Glossy choice.

    The MBPs with the matte screen do not have the "edgeless" glass overlay--if you'll notice, the bezel is also different.

    But, it's all speculation until the notebooks are officially released.
