Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere... I searched this forum, chatted with a Lenovo rep, and checked the tech specs. No luck on a solid answer.

Will the E420 (non-S version) support the Intel 310 msata SSD? Is there anyone with this model who has installed the 310?

    Thank you in advance.

    Thank you, Toast.

The reference to "7200 RPM" made me think this could be incorrect.

When I chatted with a Lenovo Rep, I asked about msata in the E420, he said no. But, to test him, I asked about putting a msata ssd in the T420. He said it wouldn't work in it either (I know others have done it).

The actual spec sheets are more confusing.

    E420 1141 (mine).
    http://www.lenovo.com/psref/pdf/slbook.pdf
Top of page - "PCIe Mini Card WWAN/mSATA" - "None"
Body of page - "mSATA SSD" - "None"
    - "WWAN" - "None" (same connection as SSD???)

E420S specs on the same doc as above - Looks exactly like the non-S. But I have seen many others have put msata ssd's into this model.

T420 and several others on this doc (confirmed msata ssd capable)
    http://www.lenovo.com/psref/pdf/tabook.pdf
Top of page - "PCIe Mini Card WWAN/mSATA" - "Upgrade"
Body of page - "mSATA SSD" - "None"
    - "WWAN" - "Upgradable"

It may just be that Lenovo doesn't install msata ssd's on my model, but they can be added aftermarket, as you suggest. However, I am nervous to order it and have it not work. I think I would prefer to have confirmation that it will work before ordering to save some headache. Otherwise, I may just go with a regular SSD.

    Thanks again.
