Question for wiser and more experienced heads than mine.

I have a T60 (2623 DRU) purchased in 2005, still just barely under warranty. Two hardware problems have developed.

    1) Odd spots (not stains or dirt) on the LCD bezel (just the bezel - not the LCD itself. All pixels seem alive). 2) CDR/DVD drive not recognized by the system; I removed and replaced the optical drive, uninstalled it and rebooted with device manager. No go. Tech support feels it needs to be evaluated and possibly replaced, motherboard checked, etc.

What is Lenovo's current EZ Serv record? I have the option of carrying in to an authorized service rep. in NYC. There was a time when I would have felt EZ serv was the sounder bet, but...one hears a lot of stories.

    Advice?

    Thanks!

If you can meet the rep, I'd walk it in and talk to him. That way you can get a feel if you would rather leave it with him or go through EZ Serv.

I've had good luck with EZ serv, but it can take a fair amount of time for them to turn products around.

A lot of the take in places are shady...I took my X61T in for repair service at a Lenovo Authorized Repair Center and they tried to charge me money to fix my computer; if I paid them $100 they would fix my computer in a week.
