According to this post in Chinese, quoting a Product Manager of Lenovo Taiwan, X300 will go on sale in March.
Bad news: the 7mm Optical Drive can NOT be swapped out for a 2nd battery.
Good news: X300 uses custom-made Intel CPUs just like the Apple MBA, tho consuming even less power: 12W.
And following the first SSD-only batch, HHD versions will be available. MSRP is going to be around 100,000NT$, bout 3122USD.

Edit: oops, 12W processor not 12V

    Update:
The OD CAN be swapped out for a 2nd battery. (yay!)
    Only supports 8mmSSD and 1.8"HDD.
    LV-Merom(1.2GHz) platform 65nm.

The Intel processors only run at around 1V. The entire laptop runs with 12V, they are still using the same processor.

Though I'd love to have one, my R60 does the job for me.

i'm prolly being captain obvious, but just to make it clear: that price is most likely for the SSD version only.

From what it sounds like there will not be a version with a regular hard drive so thats the entry price.

Keep in mind that price is MSRP - so if you can get 25 - 30% off through sales/coupons/cashback/EPP/CPP/etc/etc/etc, the price may be around $2,200.

I really want to know what's up with the battery situation with this thing.

Sounds pretty neat. I am guessing actual price with rebates etc will be around $2899 for the SSD version and perhaps ~$1899 for the HDD version.

Considering how a T4X is already 1" thin, that looks very impressive if it's real. Looks like all the information on the x300 is shaping up pretty well. And as always, the price will be slightly cheaper once it hits the states. =P

The one on the left is T40, as the author said (he said he paid some money to get the fan fixed). But the author didn't mention what the one on the right is. Some people left comments claiming it's X300 or X200. That's the whole story.
