Just found this great deal on other forum. Basically, the Students/Alumni program at Lenovo.com is offering EPP price (65% of web price). Check the Tabook, and you will find some good deals better than their current sale at regular site.
Check out the detail here:

Where is the huge difference? ronan zj's config w/ 2 GB of RAM for <$10 more than the other machine is a better purchase.

that order is good deal.
ppl should go for it.
but I really dont wanna change my order
I think my order is good.
although I am going to buy another 7k1 100G.
5400prm is too slow for me. -
Yours seems like the better buy, processor nearly just as fast (you are unlikely to see the difference between the two), you get an additional 1GB of RAM and a DVD Burner. As you said, hard drive can be upgraded later.
-
2G was a good deal at that time, coz even on ebay , 1G emeory needs around $140. i only paid $199 for 2G.
-
They have so many models and pricing schemes. There should be a site-wide bot that automate the search given certain criteria (like the CPU speed and the screen resolution). Forget tabook.
-
is it just me or does the prices seem almost the same as if you configure the machines manually just through their page www.lenovo.com with same specs??
-
Some come out very similar, otherwises are discounted a bit. Depends on your configuration. I am going to re-order my t60 through this page because it came out about $100 less.
You also get the old warranty options back that are not available on the main page anymore. And the option to have only 256mb of ram, which I am going to do (and upgrade immediately after it is delivered) in order to bypass the month long wait for 512mb and 1gb. -
Please refer to my examples in the first page. -
Don't forget to consider the current fatwallet.com cashback promotion. Right now they're offering 7% cashback on any Lenovo purchase. The combination of the cashback and holiday sale can lead to some pretty sweet deals.
I've configured an x60 with the following specifications:
Core 2 Duo 7200 (2.0GHz)
Intel GMA 950
Bluetooth 2.0
x6 Ultrabase Dock (onsale for $49 as opposed to the usual $200)
CDRW/DVDROM
1.5Gigs of 667MHz PC25300 ram
100Gig 5400rpm hardrive
Thinkpad a/b/g/n wifi (Atheros)
4-cell Lithium Ion Battery
XP Home w/ free upgrade to Vista Home Basic or Premium (I'm not sure who would choose Basic over Premium)
Price: $1852.00
Price w/ tax: $1986.27
Price w/ tax - 7% cashback: 1856.63
As you can see the cashback rebate pretty much takes care of the tax. If you have any questions about the legitimacy of Fatwallet.com, I'm sure many forum members can confirm that this is a legitimate offer. I ordered yesterday, and the cashback amount of $129.64 already shows up as pending.
BTW: You can get an even better deal w/ the T-series, as the discounts are much better than those for the X-series. -
Does the 7% cash back work with EPP links?
-
I just wish this is also available to Canadian customs....sigh..
-
No kidding ^. I agree.
-
The 7% cashback only works when you click to Lenovo's site through the link on fatwallet.com. It has something to do with a commission deal fatwallet has with lenovo. There does not seem to be an option to click to an EPP/student site, as the link takes you to the normal holiday sale.
-
Is there a fatwallet Canada site (link)?
-
One could go from the fatwallet-sanctioned Lenovo Holiday Sale link to the EPP link. But they would be able to figure it out, and I am not sure about the final words on it.
-
How can one possibly do both?
EPP price for all students and alumni !
