    E540 fan noise ... has it changed compared to E530?

    Dear all,

    I'm trying to read up on the Thinkpad E540, but there aren't that many reviews of it online. My plan/hope was to buy a fairly inexpensive E540 with the baseline Intel Haswell graphics, add an aftermarket SSD, and use it for basic office work and light web development.

    The predecessor E530 had a fairly noisy fan at idle, and also some issues with fan speed going up and down. I'm quite sensitive to fan noise. Can some noise-conscious E540 owners chime in here, how is the fan noise on the never E540 model? How noisy is it at idle?

    I saw one user of E540 said it's very silent in the official lenovo forum :p. In my place, there are many E431 users, but never heard of complaints about noisy/whiny fan. So I guess lenovo had fixed that issue in the newer models, hopefully :)

    Hi,

    I too am looking for someone with hands-on experience with the E540 - slightly off topic, but I want to find out if the full HD screen has a TN or IPS panel...

    If anyone has info about this please don't hold back!
