    Hi,

I'm considering buying a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E420s, but I have question about the battery. I understand that the battery is integrated and cannot be removed. I also read that it could last 1000 recharges, but what happens afterwards? Can I get a new battery or what?

I don't know for sure, but I would assume it's just like Macbook batteries where it can be replaced, but it has to be done by someone at Lenovo.

The maintenance manual shows you how to replace the battery. It is a tricky process probably similar to replacing a battery in a mac laptop.

However I don't see the part available from lenovo at this time.

You can replace the battery, but for now its being maintained as user irreplacable. I am sure spare batteries (OEMs most likely) will show up well before you hit 1000 charges. It might be a tricky procedure to replace them though, i am not sure.
