So my new E420 has a 34mm ExpressCard expansion slot. Does this mean it will accept a graphics card? Lenovo's website does not offer it as an option in the build section.

Second question. I would like to double the memory and it currently has a single 4GB PC3-10600 DDR3 L-H SODIMM 55Y3711. Do I look for the identical chip? What brand works best with Lenovo?

For DIY Dock questions, best to check out this thread. Even though your laptop has EC, it may not support eGPU. Of course Lenovo doesn't endorse eGPU, it's DIY.

Any DDR3 RAM will work in the E420. Honestly all the matching stuff, as long as your laptop POSTs and passes several passes of memtest, it doesn't matter.
