On May 10 I ordered a maxed out T61 with the T7700 processor. My order seemingly never got rebooked (I got no confirmation of it), the online status still says shipping date is Aug 31st and all I got was the freebie offer.

Yesterday, as the promised June 26th date approached I got the following e-mail:

"Subject Line: Please Contact Us Regarding Your Lenovo Order

    Dear Customer

Due to the overwhelming demand for the Lenovo products you ordered, we have been unable to ship all or part of your order. You are a valued customer and we are working to ship your order as soon as possible. However, If we do not hear from you within the next 5 days, Federal regulations require us to automatically cancel your order for which you will receive a full refund. If you would like to keep your order open, just send us an email by clicking the link below. If you agree to this delay notification, you may still request to modify or cancel your order at any time by contacting your representative Lenovo Sales toll free at 1(866)428-4465..."

This is just incredible. When I got the freebie e-mail and started seeing all these systems being shipped around me I almost started to believe that this time Lenovo would at least keep their own promise. But no, it looks like I am in for an further delay and Lenovo actually asks me to accept it without even providing an estimated ship date.

I scanned this forum, the Thinkpads.com forum and even Tim Supples's blogo but haven't found anybody receiving such an e-mail. Is anybody else in the same situation? Now what? Cancelling and getting an HP or a Dell? Of course a thinkpad is better but that is based on the assumption you can actually get your hands on one and so far this has not been the case for me. For 6 weeks and still counting...

Well guys, I just spend 40 minutes on the phone, finally got to a rep who told me this was an internal message that was send out by mistake and I shouldn't have received it at all (!!!). Also he told me that my laptop was one of the affected by the bad ordering system and that it should be shipping this week.

5 minutes after my conversation I got an e-mail from Lenovo confiming the order. It seems they have just reebooked it as we spoke. Looks like the missing parts are added and of course the ever useless estimated shipment date has changed from Aug 31st to Aug 16th :)

Oh well, we'll see what happens. This is just plain fun!

T7700 processors are being shipped. Mine just did (05/29 rebooked on 06/01)...
Lenovo is having lots of problems w/their newer systems. I believe they were not prepared for such a high demand. It seems, however, they're finally putting their act back together...Hang on!

I don't think that e-mail was a mistake, but it doesn't mean your order won't ship. I asked about this once and found out it is required by the FTC if they can't ship the order within a certain amount of time since you placed the order.

Even Newegg is sold out of the T7700 processors (they are also soldout/backordered for T7600 as well). Seems like an Intel thing.
