Hi All,
I'm a newbie here. Hi!
I'm looking to purchase a laptop that can handle two external monitors. At a minimum I'd like to have the two external monitors working while the laptop monitor is turned off. Or, best case scenario, all the three monitors work at the same time.
I'm looking at buying a Lenovo x201 with the Ultrabase.
( LENOVO THINKPAD X201 i5-540M 2.53Ghz 4GB Docking on eBay.ca (item 300541743286 end time 04-Apr-11 17:29:28 EDT) )
My questions are:
1) Will this unit handle two external 23" LED monitors (using the Ultrabase, if that matters)?
Ad for monitors I'm thinking about = Samsung SyncMaster PX2370 23" LED FULL-HD 1080P Monitor HDMI/DVI
2) Will my system run significantly slower with the external monitors hooked up?
3) I'm not looking to do any fancy video or photoshop, etc. Just normal everyday browsing and productivity. But, I do want my system to run fairly fast. Will this set up be good?
Any suggestion are appreciated!
Thx,
Tom

1) Yes. It will run 2 LCDs whether they be VGA or DP.
2) No, unless youre trying to game in which case yes. But if youre trying to do average work then no it will run fine.
3) Yes. I used to run 2 x 24in 1920x1200 monitors on my t400 and it was the best setup I have had to date on a windows system.
3 LCDs will not work unless you add a vidock or splitter (matrox). -
It should be noted that the new T and W series, in conjunction with the Quadro GPUs and newer docking stations, can handle 3 and 4 monitor setups depending on your configuration/model.
