I seem to be a little confused regarding which drivers to use for my 140M in my new Thinkpad R61. Some say that Lenovo's drivers are quite crappy.

So my question is, can I just use the newest drivers on laptopvideo2go.com - currently 177.41? And update whenever new drivers come out?

    Thanks!

To my understanding, the 177 is optimized for the big desktop cards, e.g. 280 and 9800s, and 175 is more suitable for the 140m chip. And the latest driver on Lenono is the latest 175 driver.

I installed the 167.45 drivers and got 2062 PCmarks in PCmark05 (default settings). I know that the 140m is not a gamer card, but aren't those scores a bit low?

CPU T8100, NVS 140m, 2 gigs of ram, Vista Business

EDIT: trying the 175.80 drivers now.

EDIT 2: Vista Aero goes kaput when installing the 175.80 drivers. Anyone got a suggestion for the fastest drives that also enables Aero?

I installed the latest official driver and my WEI includes .1 point.

Got WEI 4.0 with the 163.44 drivers, which was an improvement over the newest Lenovo drivers that got me 3.3.

I really suspect that something is not quite right here. Any suggestions on finding the best driver for my 140m in my R61? Any help would be appreciated.

I found the 167.62 for Vista worked the best for me. I use the modded from laptpovideo2go.
