I want to reformat and downgrade my ideapad y430 cause of the bloatware and the useless crap that eats my HD space and memory, but it never came with a cd (is it suppose to?). My previous laptop was a Dell and it comes with a Vista install CD + a drivers CD so I'm not sure if Lenovo was suppose to provide me with one.
The only thing I do have is the "OneKey Recovery" feature which requires me to make a backup of my current system and an actual copy of Windows XP OS CD.
I'm not very computer savvy and wouldn't want to screw up the new laptop. I was wondering if anyone has ever downgraded their y430 to XP with an actual windows XP cd and if so, how?
Thank you in advance!

Delete the bloatware.

Yea but I also want to downgrade. I personally prefer XP to Vista for various reasons.

The Y430 comes with Vista Home Premium, which does not qualify for a downgrade to XP.
Microsoft licensing allows a downgrade for Vista Business and Vista Ultimate users to Windows XP Pro. In this case, you would be required to purchase an XP Home or XP Pro license to use the OS on your Y430.
Your best solution (apart from spending money) is to uninstall the bloatware, and install SP2 for Vista, which should both help with performance.
Downgrading Vista --> XP on the Y430?
