I have a new X61 and the PCMCIA slot is REALLY TIGHT. At first I thought it was defective because I couldn't insert my PCMCIA soundcard all the way in (it goes in all the way except for last 5mm) but with considerable force, I pushed it all the way in.
Then, when I try to remove it, it is very difficult to remove. The ejection stick can't push it out because it is so tight. I had to pull it out manually and it takes a lot of pull force, so much that I have to hold the laptop down. I'm afraid that eventuall I will break the card or slot.
I just want to know if this is a common thing with Thinkpads, especially the X series, or if I have a defective slot.
Thanks.

just want to rebump this issue. I'd like to know especially if the tight PCMCIA is common to X61 thinkpads. I just tried the soundcard on my friends X61 Tablet and it went in and out easily.

Does your thinkpad have a really tight PCMCIA slot?
