When I first bought my T61P, I planed to buy a Cooling pad to play video games with it without making it too hot... But, since I can play COD4 for 2 hours and I don't feel that it's hot at all, I'm thinking about not buying a cooling pad. What do you think about it? Do you have one on your T61 ?

If you aren't noticing any excessive heat issues, I doubt you need an auxiliary cooling device. If anything, a passive cooling solution such as a stand that elevates the notebook and creates space underneath to improve airflow would be fine.
I used to have a Toshiba Satellite that was prone to overheating. I downloaded a free program called SpeedFan that will display the temp of your hard drives and both CPU cores on a real-time basis. It will at least give you an idea of how much higher those temps are when you are running more intensive apps/games, etc. -
YES YESS YESSSSS!!!! It does not click off, but the computer will start to act up. It will go to sleep on its own while you are using it and if you are using a bluetooth input device (MX 5500 Mouse/Keyboard Combo) it will drop it sporadically. After getting a cooling pad I have not had the sleep issue and the dropping of the bluetooth is pretty rare now.

My TP has never gotten hot no matter what I throw at its C2D's dual cores. So So it doens't need a cooling pad at all.
Now my Toshiba Satellite 5205 OTOH feels like it's got its own tiny little nuclear power plant inside and will scorch the living piss out of anything it sits on. -

I bought a Satellite M45-S265 (1.6GHz Pentium M, 512MB RAM, integrated graphics) in late 2005. It was a better 'space heater' than computer! It fried a hard drive just after the warranty was up and I gave it away....and didn't buy another Toshiba.
Thankfully, ThinkPads are designed to dissipate heat very effectively. I have noticed that my 14.1" R61 runs a little warmer than my best friend's T61 15.4" and I'm wondering if the slightly smaller size of mine could be the reason. Same components crammed in a slightly smaller space, seems logical... -
My girlfriend has a Toshiba Satellite and these laptop overheat very often. Most of the time, we use it to watch movies and it overheats !!
Does your T61 need a Cooling Pad ??
