    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can tell me when you have nothing connected to your t60, meaning, no usb device, not connected to power cord, ONLY running on battery, that you can hear this feint almost electric noise coming from where the fan grills are.

When i am connected to the ac, or even a usb flesh drive, there is zero noise, however if i am only on battery, the noise comes on, more of a high pitch static noise. it's there constantly, and if you move the track point or even the mouse pad around, it gets louder.

I have order a replacement, but I would like to know if this is just my particular faulty unit? or is it just a general "suppose to have" noise from thinkpads.

tried bios upgrade, clean xp install( a few times trying to solve the issue ), none worked.

    thanks for reading

Sometimes it can come from capacitors that are not dampened with a spot of glue, and other times it could be "Macbook Pro" syndrome. I haven't heard it on any other t60's, so it is probably just that model.

I have the same situation on my T43, but the problem is not severe or frequent enough to have to send it in.
