    Does the y500 support Intel smart response for cache or only express cache

    also which is better to use in terms of performance and features

    No it only supports ExpressCache. Intel Smart Response Technology requires a chipset with RAID support, which the HM76 chipset in the Y500 does not have.

    What exactly this smart response cache do that which differ from what express cache do's?
    I thought both are same but from different vendors

    They do the same thing, but Smart Response requires RAID. It also allows the SSD cache to be up to 64GB while ExpressCache is limited to 32GB. Not sure which solution performs better.
