Hi,
I almost pulled the trigger on the p50 with uhd display, but having read the notebookcheck.com review of the p70 uhd I began to have second thoughts. They say that it uses pwm under 95% brightness at 228 Hz, which is quite low.
My eyes are petty sensitive to flickering, so the prospect of possible flickering is worrying.
Apart from that that I just can't get it how on earth it is possible that Lenovo puts such a panel into their flagship notebook, there seems to be little to no information available on the subject.
Having extensively googled the matter, I have found that the UHD panel in the p50 is supplied by Auo or samsung. (it isn't noted anywhere, I am just guessing from part numbers on spec sheets).
However, I couldn't get any further.
I'd really appreciate if someone could confirm or deny the issue. If there is no flickering, I will order it right away.
If there is indeed flickering (in normally used brightness range) then I will go for the dell precision 7510.
Thanks for every input.
Adam

The UHD Panel in the P50 is made by Sharp.
-
You must know it better.
I tried to figure it out from the fru list of the p50 and other fru lists. The part nr is 00NY498 but it doesn't indicate the manufacturer. On other models' fru lists under similar part nr th manufacturers indicated were auo and Samsung.
If we know that it is made by Sharp, does it take me any closer to the solution?
According to notebookcheck.com, the p70 Uhd panel is a Panasonic one. -
Well, I donĀ“t think you will get a clear answer, until someone with that 4K panel measures if there is PWM or not^^
-
Well, that is what I hope that someone has already measured it.
Does the p50 uhd display flicker (pwm)
