If you purchase a notebook from the Lenovo outlet do they offer free upgrades to windows 7? If not this may deter me from purchasing one when i finally pull the trigger on a t500.

PS, any idea when the new T series will come out? I want to make sure to purchase my laptop before the new series rolls out.

Yes, but not if XP is installed. But be prepared to wait quite some time for the upgrade: mine finally came on Monday. And "free" is $17.03.

    Thanks for this info!

Just to clarify, it seems that the Outlet only offers the Win7 upgrade on machines that already have Home Premium or Business, not on Home Basic -- is that correct?

How do we get the upgrade? How long does it take and why does it cost $17.03?

Also, slightly off topic, but does anyone know how much money we save on the outlet vs. the cpp?

    Thanks!!

    Right.
On the Lenovo web site. There used to be a link on the home page.
"Long" for all values of time. Seriously, it took about a month and a half for me.

The charge is for the famous "shipping and handling."

I don't see the link anymore.

Is it possible to get the upgrade disc through a Lenovo sales rep?

It is on the Lenovo home page in the support section under Windows 7 information. How did you miss that?

    From Lenovo's Outlet FAQ:
@OP: The new T-series is likely to be announced in January with Intel's new platform, however, if you order then, you will likely not have one in your hands until late February. The price will be around the T500's original price, which is much much higher than today's highly discounted rate.

Thanks for the information, is there any way to choose between a 32 bit or 64 bit windows 7, it doesn't specify on the link?
