Does the T61 shut down automatically if it overheats?

I left my T61 running in a computer bag for four hours by mistake and it didn't shut down automatically. Does this mean it didn't overheat? I'm concerned that I might have caused some damage, everything's running ok as of now.

If it werent doing any work (=idle) it shouldnt have overheated. A bag (if it isnt made of metal) is quite good at spreading the heat and it does breath a bit

Four hours on battery in the bag, nice. ;)

    Your laptop should be fine.

And just a note, yes it would've shut down on it's own if it overheated.

I did that once. I shut the lid and stuffed the computer in my bag, rolled the bag out to the parking lot, tossed it in the car, drove home, pulled it out, rolled it in the house and discovered the bag was very warm. Turns out that the thing didn't go into standby and had been running the whole way. Didn't have a problem, except for the hard drive that died a few days later, but this was on a T40 before the Active Protection system.
