Hi all,
I searched around but did not find a definitive answer to this. Can the built-in T61 modem send / receive faxes? If so, how can I enable this within Vista. I don't see any trace of a FAX printer device etc in my current Vista install (factory install from Lenovo).
Thanks for the information

My T61p came with a modem. That's the first requisite.
If I remember correctly XP had document faxing software and Vista has Windows Fax and Scan.
If you have a modem... which I think is a default, then you can do FAX on your t61. -
Vista Business and Vista Ultimate include faxing according to this:

I understand all T61 have a modem port but I thought that only some modems had support for the fax protocol. Back in time, we often saw the mention “fax modem” for some modem adapters. I guess that nowadays they are all fax modems hardware-wise.
I got Vista Premium. Now the question is, can I manually get an update or something to add this functionality to Vista Premium? -
Yes the T61 has a fax. All laptop modems are "softmodems", i.e. software modems, meaning that they have FAX capability ... just need FAX software to use it.

Which fax software do you recommend to compensate for the lack of the Microsoft one? Preferably something free.

I personally use this:

Does the T61 modem support FAX?
