This has been a topic of much debate, Lenovo made the switch to Super-Elastic Polycarbonate for the external screen cover and kept the traditional Carbon Fiber Reinforced bottom found on many Thinkpads.
So, I want to know, does the top cover feel cheap or plasticky, what is the overall build quality of the T61, what could Lenovo have improved on?

Dude how long are you going to wait to buy one? Are you holding out for the T61p?
-
T61 dont look cheap to me, i guess u already owned one as ur sig suggested. What u think?

What are you comparing it to?

I received mine today (ordered 2 days ago). I have never owned a thinkpad before to compare it to, but t61 feels pretty solid, and hardcore and mine has IBM stickers too... it looks a lot better than its pictures. I have expereinced one blue screen during the last 12 hrs, but I am not turned off in anyway... really love it.
the only thing that I am not happy with, is the bottom left side of the pad, it feels like one can rip it off easily... -
The T61 is one very solid machine....very comparable to my durabook which is a truly certified ruggedized laptop.
It is tons better in build quality than your average laptop. -
Yeah, the T61 feels tough. Way the hell more than any Dell, Asus, HP, Sony etc... Despite all the out-of-the-box blue screens issues, I'm really happy with the build quality and, having repaired those bluescreen issues, am quite happy with purchasing a T61. The build quality should be the least of your worries.

Doesn't seem like there's much debate to me.
