I just ordered this laptop with the upgraded 9 cell battery. Does it stick out of the laptop and look like crap?

I thought the standard 6 cell would die too quickly.

do you have a picture of the battery sticking out? I want to see how much it protrudes out of the laptop back or side, etc.?

But I read with the 9 cell battery that you get over 4 hours of use, that's pretty darn good!

I personally prefer the larger battery profile, because it gives my laptop more stability (prevents it from tipping over backwards on sloped surfaces, for example). Not to mention more power capacity for a power-hungry beast. But it does add a good amount of weight, and makes it look less sleek. Trade-offs...

how do you think this T61p compares to others in it's class from say Dell, HP, etc. I got the save laptop as you Fignuts but I got 2gig of ram and a 2.2ghz processor for $1500 including tax and shipping. A similarily equipped Dell Precision was running me about $1800 with tax.

I think the T61p is a very good laptop. The build quality is decent. I think HP comes close but I preferred the build quality of my T61p. The only con is the screen on the T61p but it isn't terrible...far better than my old Compaq. LOL

    yes, it sticks out.

the 6-cell battery supports 3 hours in it's new condition, and I have 7200 RPM HDD and nVidia card.
