For the life of me, cannot get the adapter to see my 5ghz only N router. It sees the router when set at 2.4ghz. Does this card not support 5 ghz??

The card must support a/b/g/n, not just b/g/n. If it has 802.11a, then it has support for the higher 5 GHz frequency.

I know this because I was having a similar problem with some of my "N" devices and a 5 GHz router I picked up. I'm going to have to replace a few WiFi cards, and I'm looking at the Intel 5300 as a replacement. It supports a/b/g/n, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.

Your card most likely just has the 2.4 GHz flavor of 802.11n. Any newer wireless-n card that also has wireless-a will operate at 5 GHz.
