Well, I was having a very hard time setting thresholds on a new battery I bought and I finally got it to work by setting them then restarting my computer. Does this mean my battery is defective in anyway? I never had this problem before with other batteries?

You probably just need to Calibrate the Battery to your charge indicator. It should be done at least every 6 months, or when things start looking a bit off. IBM should have their own procedure, but this one from HP is pretty generic for Vista notebooks. Still, check your own support site to be sure.

This is a Brand New Battery. Everything is working now though... It was just hard to set thresholds.

Also, how long should a 7 cell battery last on a t61?
