I recently bought a y50 straight from lenovo. It has the 4720hq processor and for some reason a 960m instead of the 860 as advertised.

I heard lenovo ditched the crappy screen in the newer ones. How do I figure out what kind of screen mine has?

Look for off-angle wash out and color shift

The thing is ive only had 1 laptop before this and i never cared. I am not sure if i can catch it but moving my head side to side doesnt really do much to colour but it is a little different

Check the horizontal extremes as well.

What about off-center vertically? Any color inversion looking up at it from an extreme angle after tilting the screen back as far as it goes?

The colours stay the same at the very extreme vertical angle but the view seems to look when moving it to that extreme, not so much when its there.
