Well the X240 is going to come out sooner or later, does Lenovo put a sale on the older gen laptops like the X230 on either the main website or outlet? I am on the fence about buying the x230 right now, i don't want a newer gen i guess and x230 will be sufficient for my needs, only gripe is the soldered cpu, but it has everything I want other than that, don't want to pay top dollar now if i can wait a few more weeks

In how much of a rush are you? There are deals to be had in the Outlet from time to time, but you've got to be on top it...

not really a rush anymore, i thought it would be a hard semester without a laptop , but it's already been half way there and i've been fine going to the library, and yeah i bought my y410p on the outlet after refreshing the page 100 times for $550 haha, well worth it, sold it to a classmate for 800, but that was in september, i was just wondering when they periodically do them, i have the t430 now after 2 days but my eyes just can't adjust to the screen, really hurt after 30 minutes of use.

Nice profit you made there :p.

Anyway, as ajkula66 said, the Outlet tends to provide decent deals on OEM refurbished laptops from time to time. If you're considering a brand-new system, there's always the option of haggling over the phone for the laptop, in a similar way you'd haggle for a car at a car dealership. Bought my W520 that way when it was newly-released back in May 2011 and saved ~25% on it using haggling and existing discounts like Barnes and Noble.

well no luck with the phone ordeal, i'll either have to wait or consider buying the x220 now, i don't see a distance from the x230 other than improved ports

    Likely worse.

I've never owned any of the *30 series machines, but our (long since sold) X220T had worse battery life than the standard unit. Then again, it was i7 where the other one sported an i5...but historically speaking, tablets fare worse in battery life than standard units when it comes to ThinkPads, at least in my experience.

I am a big fan of the Outlet when you time it right, especially when you find a New machine. It just comes down to patience. The old addage for generally any release is if you can wait, wait, if you can't, buy.
