I got my T43p with 15" UXGA LCD. I have to return it because of some problems but also because the UXGA is just toooooo small for me. I'm thinking of getting SXGA but that might be too small also.

Anyone here using an XGA and like it or dislike it?
Will the picture quality be any different?

I'm running my UXGA at 1024x768 right now. Sure, everything is a bit larger but it's definitely more comforatable than reading the tiny UXGA screen even with the font sizes increased.

    All thoughts are appreciated.

Cannot you set it at 1400x1050 and see how you like it?

I have an XGA 15" of another brand, I find the resolution too low, its just like wasting space. 1400x1050 and increasing the font dpi, if needed, is a very good compromise, in my opinion.

By the way I also find 1440x900 on a 17" a waste of space, and too low a resolution!

I can only put it at 1280x1024.
Thanks. I'm currently testing Liquid View which seems like a pretty cool program.

I had a T41 with XGA. Funny thing was I had just upgraded to a LCD for my desktop, right before I got the T41, which ran at 1280x1024. I hated how big everthing was on XGA, even a 14" XGA. I sold it so I could get the SXGA. Also the 15" ThinkPad SXGA and UXGA screens are FlexView sreens which are much better screens. The XGA screen is a step down in quality in my opinion. You can always up the DPI in text is too small on SXGA. If you get XGA and everything is too big, you are stuck. Good Luck.

I like to use SXGA in XGA mode for reading, browsing, writing etc (with win2k it makes better than ClearType font which is thicker and nicer and which otherwise not available anywhere but XP;o)

At the same time when I need to do something big, the resolution is always there.

When browsing, come on, everything on the internet made for 10x7 resolution mostly. I don't really like to have two thick lines on both sides and read tiny letters, it IS a waste and extra strain on eyes, XGA is just fine (sometimes the mood is for 12x10 which is fine too) and I've noticed that when I've used XGA screen before my eyes where getting tired quicker than I am using SXGA in XGA mode, probably because of thicker and bolder letters, they are easier to read (I usually read from 3-4 feet away, so it helps a lot)

Just to add, XGA has deeper colors, juicier if you wish, nices looking but not as flex viewed, but it is probably has something to do with make year or something. I use A series laptops with P3 1.13Gz (1 XGA, 2 SXGA) and one of SXGA had dull colors, another had bright and deep as XGA (it was replaced from original one by the person before me), so I switched SXGAs around to use it with my main laptop that I use all the time. My bro has T series books, I don't really like them, feels more fragile, and screen not as white as in A.
