its a great configuration, but i would look harder on the price. you can do better.

Also, no one knows exactly when any particular sale will end, but the assumption is that the entire t series will be updated with a new model sometime this summer. Therefore, it is unlikely that t61p prices will ever actually go back up, other than minor fluctuation between this or that coupon deal... The real question is are we at or near the bottom here, or will the prices continue to fall. That depends on size of current supply and availability of new models and lenovo's policy, all of which is to hard for the average person to guess. However, I think they are a great value now, but you never really know. Just get the best deal you can when you need to buy and then you did the best you could.

FWIW Lenovo is always running sales on its ThinkPads. If you miss this one...there'll be another.

Yeah they come and go, but there are a lot of them. Mayby there arn't any today. But are also mutable lenove access pages with varying discounts and then add on coupons that are specific to those pages, or not. Sometimes you can use stack coupons and sometimes you can't. Its a bit complicated and designed to make profit, but it will also reward those who look. I am not trying to be evasive, but you just have to look and have some patience. some examples are visa and fatwallet program, corporate member page, contractor page (ccp) and an educational page, (epp). I'm sure there are more. Some of the pages require a access code and some don't. There is varying opinion about the ethics of using access codes you may or may not be qualified for, (and what the qualifications are) and therefore they are not allowed to be posted here. For example, last week the visa program with the usptripplesavings, (or something like that), would have given a price within a few dollars of the cpp program, either way about 15% less than your price. But this week I don't know. And if you are not buying for a month or 2, whatever you find now won't work anyway. If you find a good price though you can save it as a quote and have a week to buy it.

CPU: I think for a lot of people it's worth the extra ~$38 to simply upgrade from the T8100 to the T8300, which gains you 300mhz.

The current 25% deal ends April 7th. However, don't feel rushed to buy. Once a sale ends, Lenovo immediately starts another one. Furthermore, I completely agree with rob65789. Aside from minor variations, the prices of current Thinkpad series will either remain the same or go down.

also you can save a quote even with a coupon and it will be valid for 30 days.

just go as if you were going to purchase one and at the end don't pay but it will give you an option of sending a quote to your email, choose that instead.

that way you won't miss out on the better deal.

Thanks all of you guys, you really helped me!
Another thing is the screen.. I heard the T61p has the exact same problem as the dell 1530. They both use samsung and lg/phillips as the screen makers and the samsung is awful but the lg/phillips is great.
Should i be concerned? What can i do about it?
