Does anyone know how to turn off the T61's bips and beeps when it gets plugged/unplugged?

    Hey Guys.

I really like my t61... After I used your clean install guided, that is. :D One nagging thing, though. Whenever I unplug it, or plug it in it does an annoying beep. It seems to be coming from the hardware, not vista.

I bet others have this "annoyance too."

Does anyone know how to turn them off?

    Thx.

Open up Power Manager (double click on the battery meter). There's a setting on a certain tab there that you can check or uncheck to enable beeps or not.

Thanks. The thing is I uninstalled power manager (felt it was redundant) and use "control panel-- power options" only. I've looked through the settings and cant find anything there to shut R2D2 up.

Any other tips? I dont really want to install power manager.

If you can get into the BIOS, there is a menu called ALARM. There is an option there where you can disable beeps on power state changes, including plugging in and unplugging your laptop.

    Take care.

Thx Man. I can use in peace!

Just for posterity... F1 during startup enters bios.

    Those beeps were killing me!

Really? I think Power Manager is the only portion of the Thinkvantage SW worth installing and it definitely trumps the built in Vista tools. How else are you going to set custom battery charge thresholds? (ie. upper and lower)
