For some reason i have a feeling that the access connection doesn't even support N protocol.

When you set up a new connection and you click on the wireless mode in the pull down, there's only Auto,A,B,G no N option.

Also when doing a wireless search i've never seen an 802.11N listed... i'm sure out of 10 AP that it picks 1 should be N.

What do you guys think ?

It does indeed support N. You just can narrow it like the other 3 bands A B G. I have the Atheros and am using it with the Linksys 350N (POS firmware thank god for DD-WRT). I am consistently hitting 25% - 30% of the 300mbs. Which is a vast improvement over the 30% on the 54mbs G band.

Yes, N-mode is supported - choose either (a) or (b):

    a) you don't enable wireless encryption and authentication (not recommended); OR

    b) set authentication to "WPA2-PSK", encryption to "AES" AND specify the pre-shared key you use. You must configure the same on your wireless router, of course.

My wirelss router is a D-Link DIR-655 with firmware version 1.05 and my wireless card is an Intel 4965AGN. I run Windows XP Pro. Access Connection is version 4.42 for Windows XP/2000.

    Hope this helps.

That's only with the Intel N card. The Atheros can run 300mbs using simple old WPA and TKIP. or WPA2 and TKIP. Really doesn't matter as you should really be using the best encryption you gear is able to do.

    The more you know. *

    Thanks for the replies.

I'm still puzzled but the inability to connect to an open network without attempting first and then disabling the internal windows firewall.

    Hi guys&girls,

I have similar problem/challenge. I am working with a T42 in combination with Linksys WRT150N and WPC300N V1 notebook adapter. I am running Access Connections V4.41. The 802.11g is working fine, through the "normal" path. But 802.11n through the WPC300N is not connecting. I have tried everything from no security to high security, no progress. I´d like to have 802.11n because of the range, my "office" is in the attic is to far away from the router spot. I thought that the Wireless N would solve that problem, so far no solution...

Does anybody had a similar situation and found the solution?

    Thnx!!!

You can bypass the Access application and use windows to manually overide and connect also.
I set it up like this first. I disabled the Access software. Did this on both my T61p and my wife's R61 with the
Intel AGN onboard chipset. Works very well.

    Running 5ghz mode D-Link DGL 4500.
