Hi, all. I am about to buy a Thinkpad and cannot not find anywhere on the Lenovo website if it has FireWire (IEEE-1394). So please help me out here.
-
I think all (or most?) of the T61 machines have firewire. It's part of the Ricoh chipset that controls the card slots and memory card reader.
-
I looked at the photos on their site, and could not find any firewire port.. Guru, are you sure?
-
well at least 15.4" wide has...
-
... and I think all 15 inch T61 and T61p models have the card reader. It's an option on the 14inch, as it occupies one of the PCMCIA slots, but it's front and slightly off center on the 15inch chassis.
-
Recain, I am digging around for some evidence as well. Their site is not terribly comprehensive sometime.

This shows the following for ports for the T61 and T61p:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67883
External ports
Three USB ports version 2.0
External DB-15 monitor
Docking connector
IEEE 1394 port
Audio ports
External stereo speakers or headphone
Microphone-in
Built-in RJ-11 and RJ-45 connectors for telephony and LAN connections -
The port on my 14.1" T61 is actually a mini-firewire. It will connect for data with an adapter, but does not transfer power (for charging, for example.)
-
Same (mini firewire) on my T61P and my X61t.
Does ThinkPad T61 15 inch have a FireWire (IEEE-1394)
