Basically are 14" & 15" screens are the same across all series. Also, I am just curious if they have "premium" screens over standard ones, like Sony or Fujitsu has HiColor & ClearView.

The LED screens I've seen tend to have more even backlighting than regular TN panels, but the quality of the image isn't necessarily markedly better in the way an IPS screen offer superior image quality.

Lenovo has offer glossy screens on the R61 in the past, but they are now only being offered on the SL models. I personally haven't seen one. It would be tough to comment on the quality.

I've seen it. Just like other glossy screens, no better, no worse. The only problem is that it's a Thinkpad.

I had the chance to review the N100 a few years ago. It had a glossy WSXGA+ screen. It was not as bright as a Fujitsu or Sony machine, but I thought it offered a nice balance between brightness without being too mirror like. I always thought it would make a good addition to the R61, which I think should be the more consumer oriented ThinkPad instead of the SL since they sell for around the same price. IDK maybe they're cheaper to make. A ThinkPad should never come with plastic hinges.

well, designwise and featurewise I am settled on ideapad, but I am worried that screen is just not going to be bright enough. My wife has work machine ThinkPad X61 and screen is horribly dim...

I just feel like the SL series is the N3000 series with a different cloth. Idk either, it may raise compliments or negative comments about Thinkpad, (those who don't know much about computer and tend to blame one brand because of one computer, ya know).
I personally don't like the SL series either. Plastic glossy lid and chassis is a throw off for me.
