I recently ordered a T61p and my ESD is OCT 5th, 2007. But Lenovo charged my CreditCard. IICR most companies charge CC after they shipped the item.

Lenovo charges right before they ship your laptop. If you have been charged it means your laptop is built and ready to ship.

It wouldn't make sense to charge after shipping. As a company wouldn't you want your money before you sent the item to a customer? Otherwise you may be shipping expensive laptops to customers who do not have the funds or credit to pay for.

If that is true, then that's good news for me, at least.

They place a hold on your credit (for the amount that you paid) to make sure that credit is available when they ship it. And it is when they ship it out that they actually charge your credit card. So, your available credit may reflect the purchase immediately after you order, but the actual details will show up only after the system has shipped.
