Will I notice a big difference between 1.8 core 2 duo or 2.0 core 2 duo . I will be using this laptop for web surfing, little bit of games

It depends on what you are doing. If all you want to do is word process and surf the Internet, then there will be no difference with the two processer. However, if you encode or video edit alot, then the T7200 (2.00 GHz) will be faster, due to the faster clockspeed. In games, both will perform about the same, because they are graphics limited. Unless a Go 7900 GTX or better is couped with the processer, the T5600 (1.83 GHz) will do fine. Hope this helps.

Will I see any performance boost on CAD program?

If it pegs a CPU under use, yes. If it doesn't the CPU is probably stepped down to 1000-1200 for most things, and it will act the same way. It all depends on how intensive that program is, and if its going to use all the processor it can

I'm not an expert, but processor speed is probably one of the less important upgrades. You'd be wiser to spend money on more RAM and a faster hard drive. I just don't think you'll see much real-world improvement in going from a 1.66 or 1.83 Ghz to a 2.0 Ghz processor. The core 2 duo/core duo was a huge leap forward from it's predecessor from what I understand, and I just don't think you'll notice much difference in a faster clock speed the majority of the time.

For typical use, a faster hard drive will seem a bigger boost. For CPU intensive things like audio or video encoding is where the Core Duo shines.
