Seems like I've read alot of threads here about people getting their laptops hung up in customs for whatever reason for a day or two. Is this the norm? I paid for 2nd day air from the start and my T400 shipped yesterday... so I expect it tomorrow. But how common is it for 2nd day shipping to not arrive in the 2 days?

    Thanks.

Shipping companies have no control over what customs does when your laptop enters the country. That is the majority of the hold ups from what I've read.

I'm aware that it is not up to the shipping company...I'm just curious how long it takes most 2nd day air shipments to arrive.

FWIW, mine was two day shipping—and I was quite surprised and pleased to see it get all the way from China to my house in, yes, two days.

Yep, if it arrives tommorow it will be 4 days shipping for me when it should have been 2. It has been hung up in customs because Lenovo made an error in sending the paperwork and my name was spelled wrong above the address which should be something routine yet it seems they get it wrong a lot so there is a good chance it will take longer than 2 days for you... You can ask for a reimbursment of the shipping fees if it takes longer than expected or do as I did and order it standard ground (free) shipping and if the laptop is delayed during building because of shortages of parts (as mine was with the 9 cell battery) they will bump you up to the 2 day shipping if you complain as to why it is taking so long.. I see no reason you should pay for 2 day shipping if it is going to take 3 or 4...

2nd day shipping isn't really that much faster. Maybe a day faster? I had the "ground" shipping which is international express and that took from Friday to Monday (so that is basically 2-3 days if you don't count Sunday).

UPS and FedEx is usually right on time. I live in Hawai'i and got mine in 2 days (including the date it shipped, so I got it the next day I was notified that my X200 was shipped).

From my experience I had with UPS, they're usually on time. I never used FedEx 2 day before, so I can't say exactly.

Nope, it took one day for me.

That was from hong kong to california. I was pleasantly surprised when it showed up on my doorstep several days earlier than I expected.

All the premium services from UPS, Fedex...etc are usually on time. It is the lesser options that truly set apart the better service. :)

I ordered ground shipping, and it only took two days from Hong Kong to Boston.

From ordering a T400 on Friday 9/12/08 till delivery to California on Friday 9/19/08 took a week in total. I used "ground" delivery. Delivery was held up an extra day for customs clearance. "Expected shipment" by Lenovo, after ordering, was 9/26/08. I'm pleased with the computer and for its quick delivery. The screen (it seems to be a LG) and keyboard look and feel very good to me. My prior notebook was a, now deceased, IBM T42.
