Every time I open directly from my Vista Explorer window and my program is not alredy open, I recieve the following error.
If I open the file through the program (i.e. Word) then everything is fine.
If my program is already open, and i use the Explorer window, it also seems to work just fine.
Also, this is a little more hard to reproduce, but it seems that if I open my program (i.e Excel) and then close it, the file opens sucessfully.

Have you tried opening that document, then saving? That might redirect the filepath. -

It seems this is a bug in Vista Explorer. You will have to wait for the release of Service Pack 1. It should remedy the bug then.

more memory seems to have fixed the problem. It seemed like a mempory issue to my newbie self. Something about how if i opened the program and waited for it to load, and THEN used Vista explorer everything was fine.
anyway went from 2x512mb to 2x1024mb. I noticed that I am now sitting at 1.04gb occupied with not much running, so there must have been a lot of file swapping going on before... since getting the extra gig, it's sitting comfy at over a gig used now.
new RAM, disable Active Protection, and the computer is hauling.
